STANDING ORDER

To

All Tourist Officers,

Subject: The occupation of land near a monument by occupiers of land near a monument under the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966 (Tamil Nadu Act 25 of 1966), the Transport Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the occupation of land near a monument by occupiers of land near a monument.

2. The matter has been examined. Every occupier of land near a monument carrying on the occupation of land near a monument shall make an application in Form VI to the Director of Tourism within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Tourist Officer shall ensure that tourist is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Director of Tourism within twenty-one days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
