OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The holding of a public assembly by organisers of a public assembly under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Home Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the holding of a public assembly by organisers of a public assembly is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937.

2. The matter has been examined. Every organiser of a public assembly carrying on the holding of a public assembly shall make an application in Form V to the Commissioner of Police within ten days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the holding of a public assembly is undertaken, and the Commissioner of Police shall dispose of it within ten days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Home Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
