OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land under the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Mines and Geology Department, Government of Puducherry on the manner in which the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land is to be regulated under the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973.

2. The matter has been examined. Every mortgagee of agricultural land carrying on the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land shall make an application in Form 1 to the Board of Revenue within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land is undertaken, and the Board of Revenue shall dispose of it within fifteen days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Mines and Geology Department, Government of Puducherry.
