STANDING ORDER

To

All Circle Officers,

Subject: The sinking of a well on Government land by owners of a well on Government land under the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955 (West Bengal Act 10 of 1955), the Revenue Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the sinking of a well on Government land by owners of a well on Government land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a well on Government land carrying on the sinking of a well on Government land shall make an application in Form 8 to the Collector within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Circle Officer shall ensure that demand notice is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Collector within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Revenue Department, Government of West Bengal.
