OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The operation of a dam in an emergency by operators of a dam under the Gujarat State Disaster Management Act, 2003, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Excise Department, Government of Gujarat on the manner in which the operation of a dam in an emergency by operators of a dam is to be regulated under the Gujarat State Disaster Management Act, 2003.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a dam carrying on the operation of a dam in an emergency shall make an application in Form G to the Relief Commissioner within three days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the operation of a dam in an emergency is undertaken, and the Relief Commissioner shall dispose of it within three days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Excise Department, Government of Gujarat.
