OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The functioning of a trade union by trade unions under the Bombay Industrial Relations Act, 1946, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Labour Department, Government of Maharashtra on the manner in which the functioning of a trade union by trade unions is to be regulated under the Bombay Industrial Relations Act, 1946.

2. The matter has been examined. Every trade union carrying on the functioning of a trade union shall make an application in Form IV to the Labour Commissioner within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred and fifty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the functioning of a trade union is undertaken, and the Labour Commissioner shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Maharashtra.
