STANDING ORDER
To
All Inspectors of Police,
Subject: The holding of a public assembly by organisers of a public assembly under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937 (Tamil Nadu Act 10 of 1937), the Home Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of a public assembly by organisers of a public assembly.
2. The matter has been examined. Every organiser of a public assembly carrying on the holding of a public assembly shall make an application in Form I to the District Magistrate within seven days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.
3. The Inspector of Police shall ensure that permit is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the District Magistrate within seven days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Home Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
