OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The keeping of a village shop by keepers of a village shop under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which the keeping of a village shop by keepers of a village shop is to be regulated under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973.

2. The matter has been examined. Every keeper of a village shop carrying on the keeping of a village shop shall make an application in Form 4 to the Block Development Officer within seven days, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the keeping of a village shop is undertaken, and the Block Development Officer shall dispose of it within seven days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of West Bengal.
