STANDING ORDER

To

All Inspectors of Factories,

Subject: The engagement of apprentices by employers of apprentices under the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962 (Karnataka Act 8 of 1962), the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the engagement of apprentices by employers of apprentices.

2. The matter has been examined. Every employer of apprentices carrying on the engagement of apprentices shall make an application in Form V to the Registering Officer within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Inspector of Factories shall ensure that standing order is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Registering Officer within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka.
