OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The conduct of a pilgrimage by organisers of a pilgrimage under the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Tourism Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the conduct of a pilgrimage by organisers of a pilgrimage is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966.

2. The matter has been examined. Every organiser of a pilgrimage carrying on the conduct of a pilgrimage shall make an application in Form II to the Museum Board within seven days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the conduct of a pilgrimage is undertaken, and the Museum Board shall dispose of it within seven days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Tourism Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
