OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The cultivation of hemp under licence by cultivators of hemp under the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Excise Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh on the manner in which the cultivation of hemp under licence by cultivators of hemp is to be regulated under the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915.

2. The matter has been examined. Every cultivator of hemp carrying on the cultivation of hemp under licence shall make an application in Form A to the Deputy Commissioner of Excise within seven days, accompanied by a fee of twenty-five thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the cultivation of hemp under licence is undertaken, and the Deputy Commissioner of Excise shall dispose of it within seven days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Excise Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh.
