STANDING ORDER

All Circle Officers,

Subject: The sinking of a well on Government land by owners of a well on Government land under the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973 (Puducherry Act 9 of 1973), the Agriculture Department, Government of Puducherry hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the sinking of a well on Government land by owners of a well on Government land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a well on Government land carrying on the sinking of a well on Government land shall make an application in Form 14 to the Tahsildar within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Circle Officer shall ensure that land revenue receipt is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Tahsildar within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Agriculture Department, Government of Puducherry.
