STANDING ORDER

To

All Extension Officers,

Subject: The operation of a ferry by operators of a ferry under the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a ferry by operators of a ferry.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a ferry carrying on the operation of a ferry shall make an application in Form 5 to the Gram Sabha within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Extension Officer shall ensure that ferry is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Gram Sabha within twenty-one days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
