OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The running of a private hostel by operators of a hostel for tenants under the Maharashtra Slum Areas (Improvement, Clearance and Redevelopment) Act, 1971, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Transport Department, Government of Maharashtra on the manner in which the running of a private hostel by operators of a hostel for tenants is to be regulated under the Maharashtra Slum Areas (Improvement, Clearance and Redevelopment) Act, 1971.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a hostel for tenants carrying on the running of a private hostel shall make an application in Form B to the Registrar of Co-operative Housing Societies within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the running of a private hostel is undertaken, and the Registrar of Co-operative Housing Societies shall dispose of it within one hundred and twenty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Maharashtra.
