STANDING ORDER

To

All Deputies Commissioner of Excise,

Subject: The import of liquor into the State by importers of liquor under the Punjab Excise Act, 1914, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914 (Punjab Act 1 of 1914), the Labour Department, Government of Punjab hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the import of liquor into the State by importers of liquor.

2. The matter has been examined. Every importer of liquor carrying on the import of liquor into the State shall make an application in Form A to the Deputy Commissioner of Excise within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Deputy Commissioner of Excise shall ensure that permit is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Deputy Commissioner of Excise within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Punjab.
