STANDING ORDER

To

All Conciliation Officers,

Subject: The functions of a kazi by kazis under the Tamil Nadu Registration of Marriages Act, 2009, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Registration of Marriages Act, 2009 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 2009), the Law Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the functions of a kazi by kazis.

2. The matter has been examined. Every kazi carrying on the functions of a kazi shall make an application in Form V to the District Registrar within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Conciliation Officer shall ensure that will is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the District Registrar within fourteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
