STANDING ORDER

To

All Patwaris,

Subject: The cultivation of land as a sharecropper by sharecroppers under the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973 (Puducherry Act 9 of 1973), the Social Welfare Department, Government of Puducherry hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the cultivation of land as a sharecropper by sharecroppers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every sharecropper carrying on the cultivation of land as a sharecropper shall make an application in Form 8 to the Land Tribunal within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Patwari shall ensure that record of rights is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Land Tribunal within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Puducherry.
