STANDING ORDER

To

All Assistant Labour Commissioners,

Subject: The employment of dock workers by owners of a dock under the Bombay Industrial Relations Act, 1946, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bombay Industrial Relations Act, 1946 (Maharashtra Act 11 of 1946), the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the employment of dock workers by owners of a dock.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a dock carrying on the employment of dock workers shall make an application in Form VI to the Registering Officer within ten days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Assistant Labour Commissioner shall ensure that wage register is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Registering Officer within ten days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Maharashtra.
