STANDING ORDER
To
All Principal Officers,
Subject: The command of a ship by masters under the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981 (Gujarat Act 30 of 1981), the Law Department, Government of Gujarat hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the command of a ship by masters.
2. The matter has been examined. Every master carrying on the command of a ship shall make an application in Form 4 to the Mercantile Marine Department within seven days, accompanied by a fee of twenty-five thousand rupees.
3. The Principal Officer shall ensure that bill of lading is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Mercantile Marine Department within seven days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Gujarat.
