STANDING ORDER
To
All Canal Officers,
Subject: The operation of a lift irrigation scheme by owners of a lift irrigation scheme under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876 (West Bengal Act 3 of 1876), the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a lift irrigation scheme by owners of a lift irrigation scheme.
2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a lift irrigation scheme carrying on the operation of a lift irrigation scheme shall make an application in Form A to the River Basin Authority within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.
3. The Canal Officer shall ensure that sample of water is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the River Basin Authority within forty-five days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal.
