OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The running of a diagnostic laboratory by diagnostic laboratories under the Tamil Nadu Private Clinical Establishments (Regulation) Act, 1997, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the running of a diagnostic laboratory by diagnostic laboratories is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Private Clinical Establishments (Regulation) Act, 1997.

2. The matter has been examined. Every diagnostic laboratory carrying on the running of a diagnostic laboratory shall make an application in Form 20-B to the National Medical Commission within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the running of a diagnostic laboratory is undertaken, and the National Medical Commission shall dispose of it within ninety days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
