STANDING ORDER

To

All Conciliation Officers,

Subject: The engagement of apprentices by employers of apprentices under the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments (Conferment of Permanent Status to Workmen) Act, 1981, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments (Conferment of Permanent Status to Workmen) Act, 1981 (Tamil Nadu Act 46 of 1981), the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the engagement of apprentices by employers of apprentices.

2. The matter has been examined. Every employer of apprentices carrying on the engagement of apprentices shall make an application in Form III to the Labour Court within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred and fifty rupees.

3. The Conciliation Officer shall ensure that notice is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Labour Court within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
