STANDING ORDER

All Food Safety Officers,

Subject: The running of a fair price shop by fair price shop dealers under the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1977, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1977 (Maharashtra Act 9 of 1977), the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the running of a fair price shop by fair price shop dealers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every fair price shop dealer carrying on the running of a fair price shop shall make an application in Form B to the Food Authority within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Food Safety Officer shall ensure that ration card is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Food Authority within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Government of Maharashtra.
