OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Fishing in a village tank by lessees of a village fishery under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Tourism Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which fishing in a village tank by lessees of a village fishery is to be regulated under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessee of a village fishery carrying on fishing in a village tank shall make an application in Form 1 to the Gram Sabha within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which fishing in a village tank is undertaken, and the Gram Sabha shall dispose of it within fifteen days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Tourism Department, Government of West Bengal.
