STANDING ORDER

To

All Junior Engineers,

Subject: The operation of a lift irrigation scheme by owners of a lift irrigation scheme under the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003 (Tamil Nadu Act 3 of 2003), the General Administration Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a lift irrigation scheme by owners of a lift irrigation scheme.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a lift irrigation scheme carrying on the operation of a lift irrigation scheme shall make an application in Form H to the Irrigation Authority within seven days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Junior Engineer shall ensure that tube well is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Irrigation Authority within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the General Administration Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
