STANDING ORDER

To

All Circle Officers,

Subject: The holding of land in excess of the ceiling by holders of land in excess of the ceiling under the Punjab Security of Land Tenures Act, 1953, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Punjab Security of Land Tenures Act, 1953 (Punjab Act 10 of 1953), the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Punjab hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of land in excess of the ceiling by holders of land in excess of the ceiling.

2. The matter has been examined. Every holder of land in excess of the ceiling carrying on the holding of land in excess of the ceiling shall make an application in Form 5 to the Settlement Officer within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Circle Officer shall ensure that holding is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Settlement Officer within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Punjab.
