OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The registration of births and deaths by registrars of births and deaths under the Maharashtra Regulation of Marriage Bureaus and Registration of Marriages Act, 1998, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Information Technology Department, Government of Maharashtra on the manner in which the registration of births and deaths by registrars of births and deaths is to be regulated under the Maharashtra Regulation of Marriage Bureaus and Registration of Marriages Act, 1998.

2. The matter has been examined. Every registrar of births and deaths carrying on the registration of births and deaths shall make an application in Form VI to the District Court within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the registration of births and deaths is undertaken, and the District Court shall dispose of it within ninety days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Information Technology Department, Government of Maharashtra.
