STANDING ORDER

To

All Panchayat Development Officers,

Subject: The operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme under the Maharashtra Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis Act, 1962, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis Act, 1962 (Maharashtra Act 5 of 1962), the Revenue Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a rural water supply scheme carrying on the operation of a rural water supply scheme shall make an application in Form 6 to the Gram Panchayat within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. The Panchayat Development Officer shall ensure that building is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Gram Panchayat within fourteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Revenue Department, Government of Maharashtra.
