STANDING ORDER

To

All Naib Tahsildars,

Subject: The conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural use by person converting agricultural lands under the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973 (Puducherry Act 9 of 1973), the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Puducherry hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural use by person converting agricultural lands.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person converting agricultural land carrying on the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural use shall make an application in Form 1 to the Revenue Divisional Officer within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Naib Tahsildar shall ensure that parcel of land is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Revenue Divisional Officer within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Puducherry.
