STANDING ORDER

All Shipping Masters,

Subject: The recycling of ships by ship recyclers under the Maharashtra Maritime Board Act, 1996, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Maritime Board Act, 1996 (Maharashtra Act 10 of 1996), the Ports Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the recycling of ships by ship recyclers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every ship recycler carrying on the recycling of ships shall make an application in Form 1 to the Mercantile Marine Department within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Shipping Master shall ensure that survey certificate is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Mercantile Marine Department within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Ports Department, Government of Maharashtra.
