STANDING ORDER

To

All Divisional Canal Officers,

Subject: The management of an irrigation system by a water user association by water user associations under the Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation Act, 2003, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation Act, 2003 (Kerala Act 31 of 2003), the Water Resources Department, Government of Kerala hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the management of an irrigation system by a water user association by water user associations.

2. The matter has been examined. Every water user association carrying on the management of an irrigation system by a water user association shall make an application in Form B to the Board within seven days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Divisional Canal Officer shall ensure that canal is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Board within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Kerala.
