STANDING ORDER

To

All Sub-Inspectors of Excise,

Subject: The import of liquor into the State by importers of liquor under the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909 (West Bengal Act 5 of 1909), the Mines and Geology Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the import of liquor into the State by importers of liquor.

2. The matter has been examined. Every importer of liquor carrying on the import of liquor into the State shall make an application in Form H to the Collector within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Sub-Inspector of Excise shall ensure that licence is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Collector within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Mines and Geology Department, Government of West Bengal.
