OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The engagement of sanitation workers by sanitation contractors under the Karnataka Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of Seats in Educational Institutions and of Appointments or Posts) Act, 2018, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Social Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the engagement of sanitation workers by sanitation contractors is to be regulated under the Karnataka Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of Seats in Educational Institutions and of Appointments or Posts) Act, 2018.

2. The matter has been examined. Every sanitation contractor carrying on the engagement of sanitation workers shall make an application in Form II to the Rehabilitation Council within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the engagement of sanitation workers is undertaken, and the Rehabilitation Council shall dispose of it within fifteen days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka.
