OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The distribution of electricity by distribution licensees under the Gujarat Electricity Industry (Reorganisation and Regulation) Act, 2003, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Government of Gujarat on the manner in which the distribution of electricity by distribution licensees is to be regulated under the Gujarat Electricity Industry (Reorganisation and Regulation) Act, 2003.

2. The matter has been examined. Every distribution licensee carrying on the distribution of electricity shall make an application in Form VIII to the State Commission within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of one lakh rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the distribution of electricity is undertaken, and the State Commission shall dispose of it within forty-five days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Government of Gujarat.
