STANDING ORDER

To

All Naib Tahsildars,

Subject: The taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land under the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973 (Puducherry Act 9 of 1973), the General Administration Department, Government of Puducherry hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land by mortgagees of agricultural land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every mortgagee of agricultural land carrying on the taking of a mortgage of agricultural land shall make an application in Form 14 to the Settlement Officer within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees.

3. The Naib Tahsildar shall ensure that patta is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Settlement Officer within forty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the General Administration Department, Government of Puducherry.
