STANDING ORDER

To

All Chiefs Executive Officer of the Zila Parishad,

Subject: The collection of Panchayat taxes by collectors of a Panchayat tax under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973 (West Bengal Act 41 of 1973), the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the collection of Panchayat taxes by collectors of a Panchayat tax.

2. The matter has been examined. Every collector of a Panchayat tax carrying on the collection of Panchayat taxes shall make an application in Form 4 to the Block Development Officer within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Chief Executive Officer of the Zila Parishad shall ensure that register of buildings is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Block Development Officer within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of West Bengal.
