CIRCULAR
To
All Deputy Chief Electrical Inspectors,
Subject: The generation of electricity by generating companies under the Electricity Act, 2003, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Electricity Act, 2003 (36 of 2003), the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission hereby issues the following
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the generation of electricity by generating companies.
2. The matter has been examined. Every generating company carrying on the generation of electricity shall make an application in Form VIII to the Chief Electrical Inspector within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.
3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the generation of electricity is undertaken, and the Chief Electrical Inspector shall dispose of it within twenty-one days of its receipt.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this circular may be brought to the notice of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission.
