OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The recruitment of seafarers by recruitments and placement agency for seafarers under the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board Act, 1995, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Ports Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the recruitment of seafarers by recruitments and placement agency for seafarers is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board Act, 1995.

2. The matter has been examined. Every recruitment and placement agency for seafarers carrying on the recruitment of seafarers shall make an application in Form 1 to the Conservator of the Port within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the recruitment of seafarers is undertaken, and the Conservator of the Port shall dispose of it within sixty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Ports Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
