OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The operation of a lift irrigation scheme by owners of a lift irrigation scheme under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Urban Development Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which the operation of a lift irrigation scheme by owners of a lift irrigation scheme is to be regulated under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a lift irrigation scheme carrying on the operation of a lift irrigation scheme shall make an application in Form E to the Canal Officer within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the operation of a lift irrigation scheme is undertaken, and the Canal Officer shall dispose of it within sixty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Urban Development Department, Government of West Bengal.
