STANDING ORDER

To

All Range Forest Officers,

Subject: The discharge of effluent by persons carrying on an industry under the Karnataka Forest Act, 1964, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Forest Act, 1964 (Karnataka Act 5 of 1964), the Environment Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the discharge of effluent by persons carrying on an industry.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person carrying on an industry carrying on the discharge of effluent shall make an application in Form VI to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests within one hundred and eighty days, accompanied by a fee of one lakh rupees.

3. The Range Forest Officer shall ensure that waste manifest is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests within one hundred and eighty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Environment Department, Government of Karnataka.
