OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The maintenance of a dam by owners of a dam under the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Water Resources Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the maintenance of a dam by owners of a dam is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a dam carrying on the maintenance of a dam shall make an application in Form D to the Government of Tamil Nadu within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the maintenance of a dam is undertaken, and the Government of Tamil Nadu shall dispose of it within twenty-one days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
