STANDING ORDER

To

All Inquiry Officers,

Subject: The holding of a public office by holders of a public office under the Maharashtra Official Languages Act, 1965, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Official Languages Act, 1965 (Maharashtra Act 5 of 1965), the General Administration Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of a public office by holders of a public office.

2. The matter has been examined. Every holder of a public office carrying on the holding of a public office shall make an application in Form D to the Appellate Authority within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Inquiry Officer shall ensure that report of the commission is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Appellate Authority within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the General Administration Department, Government of Maharashtra.
