STANDING ORDER
To
All Junior Engineers,
Subject: The operation of a ferry by operators of a ferry under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876 (West Bengal Act 3 of 1876), the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a ferry by operators of a ferry.
2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a ferry carrying on the operation of a ferry shall make an application in Form A to the Irrigation Authority within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.
3. The Junior Engineer shall ensure that sample of water is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Irrigation Authority within thirty days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal.
