OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The pilotage of vessels by pilots of a port under the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Law Department, Government of Gujarat on the manner in which the pilotage of vessels by pilots of a port is to be regulated under the Gujarat Maritime Board Act, 1981.

2. The matter has been examined. Every pilot of a port carrying on the pilotage of vessels shall make an application in Form 8 to the Registrar of Ships within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of one lakh rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the pilotage of vessels is undertaken, and the Registrar of Ships shall dispose of it within sixty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Gujarat.
