STANDING ORDER

To

All Block Development Officers,

Subject: The execution of works for a Panchayat by contractors engaged by a Panchayat under the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), the Revenue Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the execution of works for a Panchayat by contractors engaged by a Panchayat.

2. The matter has been examined. Every contractor engaged by a Panchayat carrying on the execution of works for a Panchayat shall make an application in Form 5 to the Director of Panchayats within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. The Block Development Officer shall ensure that assessment register is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Director of Panchayats within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Revenue Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
