OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The connection of a private drain to the municipal sewer by owners of a private drain under the Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1977, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Finance Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the connection of a private drain to the municipal sewer by owners of a private drain is to be regulated under the Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1977.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a private drain carrying on the connection of a private drain to the municipal sewer shall make an application in Form A to the Corporation within seven days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the connection of a private drain to the municipal sewer is undertaken, and the Corporation shall dispose of it within seven days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of Karnataka.
