STANDING ORDER

To

All Junior Engineers,

Subject: The sinking of a tube well by owners of a tube well under the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003 (Tamil Nadu Act 3 of 2003), the Water Resources Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the sinking of a tube well by owners of a tube well.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a tube well carrying on the sinking of a tube well shall make an application in Form H to the Canal Officer within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The Junior Engineer shall ensure that sample of water is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Canal Officer within twenty-one days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
