OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject: The receipt of instruments in evidence by public officers under the Karnataka Stamp Act, 1957, regarding.
1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Registration and Stamps Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the receipt of instruments in evidence by public officers is to be regulated under the Karnataka Stamp Act, 1957.
2. The matter has been examined. Every public officer carrying on the receipt of instruments in evidence shall make an application in Form D to the Superintendent of Stamps within seven days, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees.
3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the receipt of instruments in evidence is undertaken, and the Superintendent of Stamps shall dispose of it within seven days of its receipt.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Registration and Stamps Department, Government of Karnataka.
