STANDING ORDER

To

All Tahsildars,

Subject: The holding of land in excess of the ceiling by holders of land in excess of the ceiling under the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973 (Puducherry Act 9 of 1973), the Home Department, Government of Puducherry hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of land in excess of the ceiling by holders of land in excess of the ceiling.

2. The matter has been examined. Every holder of land in excess of the ceiling carrying on the holding of land in excess of the ceiling shall make an application in Form 8 to the Settlement Officer within one hundred and eighty days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Tahsildar shall ensure that khasra is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Settlement Officer within one hundred and eighty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Home Department, Government of Puducherry.
