OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The holding of a beauty contest by organisers of a beauty contest under the Andhra Pradesh Devadasis (Prohibition of Dedication) Act, 1988, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh on the manner in which the holding of a beauty contest by organisers of a beauty contest is to be regulated under the Andhra Pradesh Devadasis (Prohibition of Dedication) Act, 1988.

2. The matter has been examined. Every organiser of a beauty contest carrying on the holding of a beauty contest shall make an application in Form VII to the Committee within seven days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the holding of a beauty contest is undertaken, and the Committee shall dispose of it within seven days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
